I began practicing yoga in 2006 to increase flexibility. (Okay, if we’re being completely honest, really, I wanted to be able to contort myself as gracefully and mindboggingly as a Cirque du Soleil performer. Yoga seemed like the easiest means to an end.)
Over time, I’ve learned that yoga is good for more than a bendy body. Yoga helps calm my mind, gives me physical strength, and helps me remain present both on and off my mat. I love that I get to share this practice as a yoga guide.
More than a decade after my first yoga class, I’d still never be mistaken for a Cirque du Soleil act. But I am more in tune with my body and its needs, as well as my spirit and its needs. I hope the same becomes true for you. Namaste!
